Matthew 7:7-11 (NRSV)

Bread and stones

"Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

CONSUMED BY THE FIRE…

Ask

Seek

Knock….

But what if I don’t know what to ask for?

And what if my seeking has me running in circles?

What if I’ve knocked upon countless doors,

Only to find them barred to me?

Oh God…

Lead me not into temptation

But deliver me from evil

I want to be a God-chaser

I want to follow hard after you

But when you circle round behind me

To lead me from the rear

I become afraid

Looking

Straining

Breath clogging in my lungs

Unearthly hungers tearing at my flesh

Oh God!

Please save me from myself

From the thoughts of my imagination

From the darkness that threatens to consume me

At midnight

Ask

Seek

Knock

I want to see Jesus

I want to see Him high and lifted up

I want Your Light to burn away

Everything…

Everything that is not of you

Like you

From you

Everything…

Leaving only JESUS

Leaving only Light.

Ask

Seek

Knock

I want to be consumed

Burnt alive by your Spirit

Until I am no more…

Burn me up, Lord…

Burn me up…
