Eternally Safe

SCRIPTURE

John 3:31-36 (NRSV)

The one who comes from above

The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is of the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly things. The one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard, yet no one accepts his testimony. Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true. He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure. The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure God's wrath.

DEVOTION--Today is Saturday Psalmody; the mediation is offered as a psalm from my heart! If you would like a more traditional devotion, please search the archives for a title that appeals to you! (smile)

ETERNALLY SAFE

For too long

I have listened to the earth bound voices

Of the cynics

who tell me

That life is only worth living

If I am famous

Rich and Skinny.

They tell me that if I don’t have

Two homes

In exotic locales

With a cabin, boat, and Maserati

I am nothing.

These are the terrestrials

Who know nothing more

Than getting more and more

STUFF

And who want me

To follow their lead

But, You…

You are different

You speak of things from above

Heavenly ways

That I know nothing of

Yet

Your voice calls to me

Across an angry sea of

Consumerism

Vanity

Greed and Gluttony.

Your voice drowns out

The culture of SELF

That thinks nothing of

Another

Until it is TOO LATE.

Your voice is true

You tell me that you Love me

That you think I’m worth dying for

You tell me that I will be your Love

Forever and ever

That we will share an

Eternal life that will never end

You whisper promises in my ear

I will never leave you

Forsake you

Abandon you

Betray you

You are safe with me…

I like your voice

Actually

I love your voice

It fills me with great joy

And when I hear it

My heart overflows

With joy.

That’s why

I will run to you

And In your arms

I know

that I am

Eternally

Safe.
