SPECIAL NOTE
Today the Good News Blog is 1-year old! Happy Birthday! Thanks for reading, sharing, and BEing good news every single day! From my heart to yours--GOD BLESS YOU!
SCRIPTURE

1 Kings 17:8-16 (NRSV)
Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, "Go now to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and live there; for I have commanded a widow there to feed you." So he set out and went to Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the town, a widow was there gathering sticks; he called to her and said, "Bring me a little water in a vessel, so that I may drink." As she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, "Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand." But she said, "As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jug; I am now gathering a couple of sticks, so that I may go home and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die." Elijah said to her, "Do not be afraid; go and do as you have said; but first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterwards make something for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord the God of Israel: The jar of meal will not be emptied and the jug of oil will not fail until the day that the Lord sends rain on the earth." She went and did as Elijah said, so that she as well as he and her household ate for many days. The jar of meal was not emptied, neither did the jug of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.
DEVOTION
One year ago today I began the "Ain'ta That Good News?!" blog with nothing but a wing and prayer.
It was inspired by a group of people who had heard me preach on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009. After service they surrounded me and said, "Pastor, you really need to publish that sermon to the web."
I laughed and gave them all of the reasons it was impossible. I said, "No one will read it! I don't have the time! Nobody cares what I have to say!"
They insisted that God would provide readership, time, and passion for the ministry and they were right!
Today, the blog is one-year-old! With the help of God and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit we have reached over 17,200 readers in 91 countries around the world! Furthermore, 60 people have put all of their hope in Jesus Christ after reading the good news that God loves, gave, and saves!
Like the widow at Zarephath, I have found that we serve a More-Than-Enough God! To this I say, TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS GOD HAS DONE!
Since starting this blog, I have committed to myself--and to God--that I will write for three years! This will take all of us through Year A, B, & C of the Revised Common Lectionary. After that, the blog will recycle itself for a new generation of readers.
I am excited about the future of the GOOD NEWS MINISTRY! Since Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, we have also begun the "A Spoken Word" blog which is an outreach to the hip hop generation. Already five people have put all of their hope in Jesus on that blog! HALLELUJAH!

I have no idea what the future holds for all of us who take part in the Good News Ministry. But, I do know the one who hold our future!
Thank you for reading, sharing, and BEing good news in my life and the lives of others.
Grace and peace to you in Jesus Name!
Won't you pray with me?
Grace and Eternal God, you are Amazing! Indeed, you are a More-Than-Enough God! We thank and praise you for your Love revealed to us in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ! We thank you for the good news blog and for the opportunity to read, share, and BE good news in your world. On this day, we pray that your Holy Spirit would blow over all of us in a special way. Fill us with Pentecost Fire! Give us the courage to boldly share the good news with everyone we meet! Send us to people who need to have an encounter with your Love, Light, and Spirit. Holy One, we praise you, we thank you, we adore you, and we exalt you! To You be all the glory now and forever, in Jesus' Name, Hallelujah! and Amen!
