LIVE IN UNITY

SCRIPTURE

Psalm 133 (NRSV)

How good it is to live in unity

How very good and pleasant it is
when kindred live together in unity!
It is like the precious oil on the head,
running down upon the beard,
on the beard of Aaron,
running down over the collar of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion.
For there the Lord ordained his blessing,
life forevermore.

DEVOTION

I find it wonderful that unity is where the Lord ordains God's blessing.

Dictionary.com defines unity as "
the state of being one; oneness" or "oneness of mind, feeling, etc., as among a number of persons; concord, harmony, or agreement. "

This brings to mind Jesus' prayer for the Body of Christ, as found in John 17, where Jesus prays that just as He is one with God, we would be one with Him.

In other words, as we walk in unity with God and with each other, we most fully become the Body of Christ that God intended.

Unity is good; it is also pleasant. It is the place in which God ordains blessing and eternal life.

In Christ, there is perfect unity! In fact, Love gave Jesus to die on the cross to atone for our sin and open the door to our eternal life.

As we put all of our hope in Jesus, Jesus restores our unity with God and with each other.

Now, aint'a that good news?!

Let us pray:

God, please forgive me for those times that I have been a vehicle for disharmony in your earth. Please fill me with the Holy Spirit, teaching me to walk in unity with you and with your children. I pray this in Jesus' Name, Amen.
