Love Catapults Us!

SCRIPTURE

Job 24:1-8 (NRSV)

The needy are thrust off the road

"Why are times not kept by the Almighty,
and why do those who know him never see his days?
The wicked remove landmarks;
they seize flocks and pasture them.
They drive away the donkey of the orphan;
they take the widow's ox for a pledge.
They thrust the needy off the road;
the poor of the earth all hide themselves.
Like wild asses in the desert
they go out to their toil,
scavenging in the wasteland
food for their young.
They reap in a field not their own
and they glean in the vineyard of the wicked.
They lie all night naked, without clothing,
and have no covering in the cold.
They are wet with the rain of the mountains,
and cling to the rock for want of shelter.

DEVOTION

There are days that I have felt like Job and when I was sure that God had abandoned me.

It is so easy to look around at all of the suffering in the world and wrongly conclude that God does not exist or doesn't care. Some even believe that God delights in our suffering, allowing evil to befall us out of some nefarious plan.

I can assure you that none of the above is true. Although we all experience dark nights of the soul, God is still with us--always with us--loving and caring for us even when we cannot see or feel it.

Our sadness, grief, and disappointment make our vision dark. But, Jesus is the Light of the world. As we turn our faces up to God, our path is illuminated. As we seek the love, joy, and peace of Spirit, we are changed from the inside out.

Love catapults us to a place of grace when we allow ourselves to "fly" into the arms of Jesus. As we soar, we fall into the safety net of God's Amazing Grace which will not let us go.

Today, I want to encourage all of us to take a firm hold of our faith. If necessary, pray, "I believe, help Thou my unbelief." And then hang on tight. Allow God's love to light up your soul! Believe, by faith, that God is able to banish the darkness and then walk boldly into the Light.

You are safe and secure in the arms--and the will--of Jesus. Be not afraid. Embrace the Spirit of Peace. Walk in Love. All is well, dear ones...God is with us.
