Preach The Good News of Christ

DAY 2-LENT

Romans 1:1-7 (NRSV)

Appointed to preach the good news of Christ

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures, the gospel concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be Son of God with power according to the spirit of holiness by resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for the sake of his name, including yourselves who are called to belong to Jesus Christ,

To all God's beloved in Rome, who are called to be saints:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

DEVOTION

I am struck by the call to preach the good news about Jesus! During this Lenten Season may each of us be granted the gifts of spirit necessary to proclaim that "Christ has died! Christ has risen! Christ shall come again!"

As we share, let us trust that God's grace and peace with accompany us, giving us the words to say.

Lent is a time for slowing down, attending to spiritual disciplines, and investing in the eternal. What could be more important than leading a loved one into the arms of Christ?

Let us open up our mouths and proclaim Christ this day!

Let us pray: Oh God, please give me the words to say to my family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers that will lead them into relationship with you. I know that you love them very much; please use me to share Your love on this day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
