Walk By Faith

LENT--DAY 21

SCRIPTURE

2 Corinthians 5:6-15 (NRSV)

Walking by faith and not by sight

So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord -- for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil.

Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade others; but we ourselves are well known to God, and I hope that we are also well known to your consciences. We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast in outward appearance and not in the heart. For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.

DEVOTION

Today's good news proclamation is, "we walk by faith and not by sight!"

This is wonderful good news for those of us who have ever experienced challenges in our bodies, minds, or spirits that we did not understand.

Although we sometimes face trials and tribulation for which there does not seem to be an immediate answer, God is well able to deliver us as we walk by faith and not by sight.

I love that Paul says, "the love of Christ urges us on."

I don't know about you, but there have been many a day and night when all that I had was the love of God, urging me on, refusing to let me give up as I persevered through adversity and hardship.

Today, since you are reading this blog, I believe that God wants you to know that God is with you, always with you!

God will not leave you, neither will God forsake you. God's great love for us was proven--beyond a shadow of a doubt--when Jesus gave his life upon the cross to save us from our sin and gift us with eternal life. And God's awesome power to save was proven--beyond a shadow of a doubt--when our Omnipotent God raised Jesus from the dead, victorious over sin, death, and the grave!

Glory to God in the Highest!

Lift up your heads, dear ones. Do not be cast down. God is with you, always with you.

Let us pray:

All Glorious One, thank you for loving me in the way that you do. Please forgive me for failing to always trust in your love. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit as I await your rescue. Please enable me to wait for my change to come with patience and with joy. I love you and I promise to share our love with others. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
